Personal information
Privacy policy
Last updated : October 15, 2026
KAO KAO Beer Garden (“KAO KAO”, “we”) respects your privacy. This policy explains which personal information is collected through kaokao.ca, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept and what your rights are, in accordance with Québec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (as amended by Law 25).
1. Who is responsible
KAO KAO Beer Garden, 3200 boulevard du Curé-Labelle, Laval (Québec) H7P 4W6, operates this site.
Person in charge of the protection of personal information: Yannick Lauzon. For any question or request about your personal information: info@kaokao.ca · (450) 934-1334.
2. What we collect, and why
We only collect what is needed for what you ask of us. The site itself keeps no customer database.
- Event request (the “Book your date” form on this site): name, email, phone, desired date, number of guests, event type and message. They are emailed to info@kaokao.ca through the Resend delivery service, solely to answer your request.
- Newsletter (the “Stay in the gang” form on this site): your email address and, if you want, your first name. We only sign you up if you ticked the consent box, and only to send you our promotions and news by email — never for anything else. Your sign-up is emailed to us through the Resend delivery service, and the mailing list is held by KAO KAO itself: it is not hosted by any third party. Your first name is used only to personalise the email. The site itself stores none of this data.
- Table reservation (NowBookIt module): name, email, phone, party size, date and time, any notes. NowBookIt processes them on our behalf to manage your reservation and send you the confirmation and reminders.
- Gift cards (NowBookIt module): buyer's and recipient's name and email, amount, message and payment details. Payment is processed by NowBookIt's payment provider; we never see or keep your card number.
- Online ordering: the “Order” button leads to kaokao.order-online.ai, a site operated by UEAT. Ordering and payment there are governed by UEAT's privacy policy.
- Technical data: our host (Vercel) keeps operational logs (IP address, browser, pages requested, timestamp) for the security and operation of the site. The event form also limits submissions per IP address with a temporary in-memory counter that is not retained.
3. Cookies and local storage
The site uses no advertising cookies and no audience-measurement tool.
- Essential: a single entry in your browser's local storage (“kk-consent”) remembers your choice about external modules. It stays until you change it or clear your browser data.
- External modules (only with your consent): the NowBookIt reservation and gift-card modules and the Google Maps map are loaded from those providers' servers and may set their own cookies, governed by their policies. Until you accept, nothing is loaded and a direct link to their site lets you do the same thing.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page, or with the button below.
4. Sharing with third parties and outside Québec
We never sell your personal information. It is only shared with the providers that let us offer the services described above, to the extent needed for those services:
- NowBookIt — table reservations and gift cards;
- UEAT — online ordering (kaokao.order-online.ai);
- Resend — delivery of the site's emails (event requests, newsletter sign-ups) and sending of the promotional emails;
- Vercel — site hosting;
- Google — the Google Maps map on the Visit page (external module).
Some of these providers process or host data outside Québec, notably in the United States. Before communicating personal information outside Québec, we carry out the privacy impact assessment required by law, and we only work with providers that commit to adequate protection of that information.
5. Retention
- Event requests: the emails received are kept while the request is handled and the event organised, then for at most 24 months, after which they are deleted.
- Newsletter: your address (and your first name, if you gave one) are kept by KAO KAO as long as you are subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we remove you from the mailing list and keep the address in an “unsubscribed” state so we never write to you again; you can ask us to delete it entirely — including the sign-up email that evidences your consent — by writing to info@kaokao.ca.
- Reservations and gift cards: kept by NowBookIt under its own retention policy; a gift card stays linked to its buyer until fully used or expired.
- Technical logs: kept by the host for a short period, for security purposes.
- Cookie choice: until you change it or clear your browser data.
6. Your rights
At any time and free of charge, you can:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- have it corrected if it is inaccurate, incomplete or ambiguous;
- ask for it to be deleted (or no longer disseminated) where the law allows;
- obtain a copy in a structured, commonly used technological format (portability), where the law provides for it;
- withdraw your consent: for the newsletter, at any time, with the “Unsubscribe” link at the bottom of every email (or by writing to us); for external modules, with “Cookie settings”; for everything else, by writing to us;
- file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (cai.gouv.qc.ca) if you believe your rights have not been respected.
To exercise a right, write to the person in charge at info@kaokao.ca or call (450) 934-1334, stating your request. We answer within 30 days of receiving it and may ask you to confirm your identity first. For information held by NowBookIt or UEAT, we will help you route your request.
7. Security and incidents
The site is served over HTTPS. Access to the emails received is limited to the people who need it to answer requests. In the event of a confidentiality incident presenting a risk of serious injury, we notify the Commission d'accès à l'information and the people concerned, and record it in our incident register, as the law requires.
8. Minors
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 14 without the consent of the person having parental authority.
9. Changes
This policy may be updated; the date of the last update appears at the top of the page. Significant changes will be announced on the site.
